Gucci's star-studded party to be held at East River venue

(According to Fashion Week Daily - Soho Mews, NEW YORK) Gucci is venturing into new--and international--territory for its February 6 fundraiser bash celebrating the opening of its largest global flagship on Fifth Avenue. The extravaganza, dubbed "A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF," will take place at a custom-built venue on the grounds of the North Lawn of the United Nations.

According to Gucci, the 18-acre location on Manhattan's East River was chosen for its "neutrality, connection to UNICEF, and symbolism of global unity, as it belongs to no country." It also marks the first time an event of this nature will take place there.

As reported, Madonna will host the party alongside Gucci creative director Frida Giannini. The fashion house also released the names of the night's special acts. Alicia Keys, Timbaland, and Rihanna will all deliver musical performances; noted economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs, another co-chair, will deliver a presentation, and a live auction will be emceed by Chris Rock.

Along with Madonna and Giannini, a slew of celebrities have been recruited to attend in an effort to further raise awareness for the cause. They include Drew Barrymore, Adrien Brody, Arpad Busson, Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Matthew Broderick, and Sting. UNICEF ambassadors Téa Leoni, Lucy Liu, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Trudie Styler have all been confirmed as well.
I WONDER IF THERE WILL BE ANY MALAWIANS PRESENT???
