MAYBELLINE SIGNS WHITE

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK has announced that Jessica White is its newest spokesperson, joining Christy Turlington, Erin Wasson, Adriana Lima, Tomiko Fraser, Julia Stegner and Zhang Ziyi.
White is best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (2003–5, 2007) and on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show catwalk, beginning in 2006.
Some dubbed her ‘the new Iman’, based on her African–American heritage.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, White was discovered when she was 16 and moved to Paris soon after. She modelled in campaigns for Chloé and the Gap, became a regular on the catwalks and has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Teen Vogue. She has had an acting appearance—in the otherwise forgettable Big Momma’s House 2—and has featured in a music video for John Legend and Jay-Z.
According to Maybelline, White founded a charitable foundation called Angel Wings, which helps children in her Buffalo home town.
‘Maybelline products are a part of every woman's life and I am so honoured to represent the African–American community for a brand I have grown up with,’ she says.
The campaigns featuring White begin running in February 2008. •
